An Interactive Experience Exploring Media Pressure and Information Overload

Main Project Image

Breaking News is an experimental interactive project that explores how constant urgency, fragmented attention, and performance pressure shape decision-making in media environments.

Players step into the role of a newsroom worker navigating rapid tasks, limited time, and escalating demands. Through simple but high-pressure mechanics, the experience reflects on modern information overload and the psychological tension embedded in contemporary work systems. Rather than focusing on complex controls, the project emphasizes emotional pacing, behavioral patterns, and system feedback to create a reflective, immersive experience.

An Interactive Experience That Provokes Reflection

Breaking News is built around a restrained interaction system designed to generate sustained tension. Tasks continuously appear, time is limited, and accumulated stress subtly reshapes the player’s experience. Rather than relying on complex mechanics, the project focuses on pacing, repetition, and feedback to simulate the instability of a fast-moving newsroom. The visual language draws from breaking news aesthetics — bold typography, high contrast cues, and urgent motion — reinforcing the sense of speed and constant demand. Ultimately, the project reflects on how speed alters judgment, how urgency becomes normalized, and how systems shape behavior more than intention. The work was later selected as a GDC 2025 Alt Ctrl Finalist, recognizing its experimental interaction design and conceptual clarity
